We have launched the “Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA” mobile app, available for Apple and Android Devices. With our app, you can receive the latest FSPY news and updates, facility information, classes and schedules, programs and more. Simply go to the App Store or Google Play, download the app, set the preferences to allow for notifications and be on your way to having the latest, up-to-date FSPY information. New! Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program

For those in our community who are diagnosed with high blood pressure, our new Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program may be able to help. We are enrolling now for this evidence-based program that features personalized support, tips for maintaining heart health and nutrition education. New Swim Program, New Names!

The Y has been “America’s Swim Instructor for over 100 years. This latest evolution of Y Swim Lessons is designed to welcome students of varying and diverse abilities to ensure that everyone feels like they belong and foster a sense of achievement from the start. The program emphasizes group activities to encourage relationship building and allows students to flow easily from one skill to the next with clearly defined stages of progress along the way. Welcoming Week
September 14th-23rd

We are excited to participate in Welcoming Week, taking place September 14th-23rd. FSPY will join Welcoming America and hundreds of YMCAs and other organizations nationwide in hosting events to celebrate immigrants’ contributions to communities and bring together all residents in a spirit of unity. Welcoming Week activities include a kickoff, potluck, Heritage Day and school supply donation drive. Learn more here.

Kids Night Out
September 14th and 27th

Enjoy a night out while your children have a blast at the Y. This month we have two Kids Night Out events planned. The first on Friday, September 14th will take place from 6:30-10pm and feature the movie “Sherlock Gnomes.” The second on Thursday, September 27th corresponds with elementary Back to School Night and will take place at our Y from 6-9pm and feature the movie “Moana.” For more information, click here.

Free MD On Call program
Next session: Tuesday, September 18th

We are excited to work with Overlook Family Practice to provide the community with our new MD on Call program. Medical education and screenings will be provided by second and third year Family Medicine Residents from the Overlook Family Medicine Residency Program. MD On Call takes place every other Tuesday from 9:00am-11:00am at FSPY.

The Big Yellow Mile
Saturday, September 29th

Swimmers, come swim 72 laps to support LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free program that helps cancer survivors build back their strength in body, mind and spirit. You can participate individually or put together a relay team of your own with family, friends or co-workers. Or, you can sponsor a swimmer to support our LIVESTRONG® program. Even children under 8 can get sponsored for swimming a lap. The cost to participate is $25 and the event is from 4:00-6:00pm.  Learn more here.
