SUMMER ENRICHMENTS
We offer a variety of half-day Summer Enrichment programs for kids entering grades 1-3. All Summer Enrichments are held at our main Y building.
*Enrichments can not be combined with Traditional Day Camps.
Theatre
PRESENTING YOUR CHILD! Our staff will encourage your child to think freely and get creative through games, activities and productions. Children develop characters based on their favorite childhood stories, and end each week with a small presentation. Participants learn how to work as a team while spending time rehearsing and preparing for the shows. All aspects of each show are child-inspired, including set design, costume design and choreography. Your child will shine in our Y Theatre Enrichment program. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
Big Top Y
Come one, Come all, to a GREAT enrichment that will combine the elements of gymnastics, ninja warrior, some creativity and will bring the circus to life. Together, we will work to create one-of-a-kind acts incorporating all the thrills associated with the circus. Get ready to learn gymnastics skills as an acrobat, daring acts of courage as a “tight rope walker,” or crack up your fellow campers as one of our silly clowns. Get ready to let your imagination soar and join the circus. Bring a healthy snack and water each day. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
Cook & Grow
Cook & Grow is a fusion of gardening and cooking. Participants will work with our Square Foot Master Gardener for weekly topics related to what is taking place in our garden. They also will learn how gardening and sustainable practices can impact our lives and our world. Topics include, but are not limited to: pollinators, butterflies, and recycling and composting. Participants will be hands-on in the garden daily, planting, watering and harvesting. Using the harvest from our Square Foot Garden as inspiration, participants will make entrées and snacks in true farm-to-table fashion. Participants will follow recipes and learn various baking techniques. Focus will be on making foods that are healthy, seasonal and kid friendly. For more information, contact Jennifer Donahue at jdonahue@fspymca.org.
Gymnastics
Jump and Roll into summer in our Gymnastics Gym! Your energetic child will learn a full range of activities using the Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor, such as balance, cartwheels and more. Participants will be placed into groups based on skill level to maximize their experience. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
Art
Your child’s inner artist will be drawn out during a week of arts and craft fun! Kids can grow so much when they have the opportunity to explore their imagination and creative side. The Y Art Enrichment program celebrates creativity, individuality, respect and diversity, and kids are free to learn and create through new artistic experiences. Children will experiment with a variety of artistic mediums like pencil drawing, painting, arts & crafts, messy art and more. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
Sports Unlimited
On your mark, get set, GO – and be ready for a great time! We will play a wide range of sports and games throughout the week, from the traditional, like soccer and basketball, to ultimate sports like Frisbee golf, dodgeball and even a color run. Our program focuses on building self-esteem, confidence and social skills while increasing independence, health, and wellness awareness. Your child will have fun and make new friends while exploring new experiences. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
Splash
Children who love being in and around water will love this enrichment. Kids will experience a variety of activities including swim lessons, water games and water-related activities focusing on water safety and team building. Children must be able to swim independently for 15 yards demonstrating rudimentary freestyle. For more information, contact Ellen Daudelin at edaudelin@fspymca.org.
STEAM
Participants will go full STEAM ahead as we explore the world around us. Each week we will concoct and construct hands-on experiments and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects that delight a child’s sense of wonder. Weekly themes are always centered on STEAM. We like to keep our participants’ bodies and minds healthy and active while enjoying the outside, collecting specimens and participating in construction and molding projects. For more information, contact Jennifer Glander at jglander@fspymca.org.
