School’s out, the Y’s in

Now open to FSPY members and the community!

This program is offered for grades K-5 on days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed due to holidays or vacation days. Program hours are 7:00am-6:30pm. Drop off and pick up are at the YMCA. On Vacation Full Days, participants will need a bathing suit, towel and brown bagged lunch.

Registration is open to both Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and community members who are in grades K-5 during the 2025-2026 School Year. Active members can register for our Vacation Full Days program for the 2025-2026 School Year beginning Monday, June 16 at 9:00am online under “Daxko Program Registration” or in person at our Welcome Center. 

If you are not currently a Y member, but wish to participate in Vacation Days, you must create a non-member account at fspymca.org/join-the-y and click “Join the Y Today,” where a non-member option will be available. You also can visit our Welcome Center at 1340 Martine Avenue.

The Vacation Full Day Registration/Health Forms must be submitted to our Welcome Center upon in-person registration or emailed to klizer@fspymca.org at least 7 days prior to your child’s first Vacation Day if registering online.

2025-2026 Vacation Full Day Themes

Tuesday, September 2: Wacky, Wild, Wet Day- It’s a super soaker, splish splash; get wet and wild kind of day. Children will spend the day playing water games, and playing outside. Summer is still here for 2 more days!

Wednesday, September 4: Outdoor Adventure- Children will participate in different games and activities outside.  We will be doing an outdoor scavenger hunt around the outside of the YMCA, what will be at the end?

Tuesday, September 23: Around the world- Participants of the day will be transported to different countries of the world. We will be learning about different countries and customs. Children will participate in cooking a snack from a different country.

Wednesday, September 24: Ah Hoy Matey! Pirates- Children will be excited to attend pirate’s day we will be looking for the buried treasure somewhere around the Y. You never know where it might be.

Thursday, October 2: Alstede Farms- Children will travel to Alstede Farms in Chester N.J. They will each be able to pick out a sugar pumpkin to bring home. Also, children will enjoy a hayride, glass of cider, and explore and find their way through a corn maze. Children will need a brown bag lunch; the bus will leave from the Y at 9am and return around 1 pm. Don’t forget your bathing suit and towel we will be swimming when we return.

Monday, October 13: Ahhh Real Monsters! – Children will participate in hands on activities. From making monster slimy monster goo with eyeballs to cooking monster stew, it will be a very scary day!

Monday, October 20: Hawaiian Exploration- Children will have the chance to explore and discover the history of Hawaii. We will be making a traditional Hawaiian snack as well as making our own leis and volcanos.

Thursday, November 6: Rock and Roll Dance Party- It’s a Dance Party! Children will spend the day listening to different types of music and learning different dance styles. After, children can roll on through to gymnastics and have fun participating in an obstacle course.

Friday, November 7: Jersey Lanes- Children will depart at 9:30am to go bowling for 2 hours. Wear your craziest socks! We will return by 12:30pm. Don’t forget to bring a brown bag lunch and a towel and swim suit we will be swimming when we get back.

Wednesday, December 24:  Film Festival- Come and view different classic films and movies having to do with the holidays! Children will be provided with a pizza lunch by the Y. Remember to bring your bathing suit and towel. The Y will close at 3pm.

Friday, December 26: Super Hero Adventures- Superman, Spiderman even the Hulk who is your favorite? Come join us for a super day! Wear your favorite superhero costume and show us your super powers in a day full of good deeds and saving the Y from evil.

Monday, December 29: Under the Sea- Join us for a journey under the sea.  Come explore all the ocean has to offer including sea creatures, plant life, and sea mammals. All projects will be hands on.

Tuesday, December 30: Monster Mini Golf- Bus will depart at 9:30am and return to the Y at 1pm. Bring a brown bagged lunch and wear your sneakers. Don’t forget your bathing suit we will be swimming when we get back. It’s going to be a fun filled day.

Wednesday, December 31: New Year’s Eve Party- It’s a Party! Come join us for the last party of the year. A day full of food, fun, and games, children will enjoy a new year’s lunch time countdown complete will an apple cider toast. Pizza Lunch will be served.

Friday, January 2:  Toga Party!!- Children will be traveling back to the ancient days of Greece. We will be exploring all that the Grecian culture has to offer including making our own togas!

Monday, January 19: Day of Service- Martin Luther King Day will be observed; we will be making cards and writing letters to show our support for the troops overseas. Also, children can help participate with different service projects around the Y.

Monday, February 16: Backwards Day- Wear all your clothes backwards shirts and socks inside out. Say Hello for Good-Bye and Good-Bye for Hello. Learn to write and say your name backwards. We will even have breakfast for lunch!

Tuesday, February 17: Star Wars Day- May the force be with you…whether you decide to be a Jedi or be on the dark side this week will take you on a ride into space exploring and the intergalactic battle of Good Vs. Evil!

Friday, March 20: Space Exploration- To infinity and beyond! Children will learn about the solar system and galaxies, they will even get to eat and make some far out food.

Monday, March 30Tahitian Creation- Come join us for a Tahitian themed day. Children will learn all about the exciting French Polynesian island of Tahiti. They will learn to build their own hut, cook traditional Tahitian food and play cultural children games.

Tuesday, March 31: Jenkinson’s Aquarium- Children will get to go on a tour of Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant, NJ. The bus will depart at 9am and we will return by 2pm. http://jenkinsons.com/aquarium/

Wednesday, April 1:  Jersey Lanes Bowling Field Trip- We are going Bowling! Make sure to wear sock and sneakers! The bus will leave promptly at 9:15.

Friday, April 3: Just Dance- Children will play all musical games; even make musical instruments out of arts and crafts. Who knows a giant dance party might even just break out during the day as well.

Friday, June 19: Olympic Day!- It’s all about team work! The day will consist of different Olympic style events to receive the gold, silver and bronze including gymnastics, swimming, and outside relay races. Don’t forget to bring a brown bag lunch, and a towel and swim suit we will be having free swim after all the events are over.

Cost: Member – $91 per day/per child
Community Member – $118 per day/per child
