School’s out, the Y’s in
Now open to FSPY members and the community!
This program is offered for grades K-5 on days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed due to holidays or vacation days. Program hours are 7:00am-6:30pm. Drop off and pick up are at the YMCA. On Vacation Full Days, participants will need a bathing suit, towel and brown bagged lunch.
Registration is open to both Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and community members who are in grades K-5 during the 2023-2024 School Year. Active members can register for our Vacation Full Days program for the 2023-2024 School Year online under “Daxko Program Registration” or in person at our Welcome Center.
If you are not currently a Y member, but wish to participate in Vacation Days, you must create a non-member account at fspymca.org/join-the-y and click “Join the Y Today,” where a non-member option will be available. You also can visit our Welcome Center at 1340 Martine Avenue.
The Vacation Full Day Registration/Health Forms must be submitted to our Welcome Center upon in-person registration or emailed to klizer@fspymca.org at least 7 days prior to your child’s first Vacation Day if registering online.

2023-2024 Vacation Full Day Themes
Tuesday, September 5: Olympic Day – It’s all about teamwork! We’ll go for the gold with different Olympic-style events, including gymnastics, swimming and outside relay races.
Wednesday, September 6: Wild Crazy Kids – This will be a day filled with wild and crazy play! Enjoy an obstacle course, making slimy goop, cooking up a messy but delicious treat, and wacky swim relays and challenges.
Monday, September 25: Alstede Farms Field Trip filled with pumpkin picking and fall fun! The bus will leave promptly at 9:00am. Remember to wear socks and sneakers and to pack lunch and a bathing suit/towel for later on.
Monday, October 9: Funplex trip with bumper cars, arcade games, laser tag and more! The bus will leave promptly at 9:00am. Remember to wear socks and sneakers and to pack lunch and a bathing suit/towel for later on.
Thursday, November 9: Rock and Roll Dance Party – Children will spend the day listening to different types of music and learning different dance styles. After, children will have fun participating in an obstacle course.
Friday, November 10: Wacky Wild Challenge – Pie a counselor in the face! Get messy and help your team win the ultimate team challenge. Children will participate in various team activities including gymnastics and swimming.
Tuesday, December 26: Hello Winter! Warm up with us inside while the weather is cold outside. Join us for a day of hot cocoa and toasty fun.
Wednesday, December 27: Animal Awareness – Join us for a day filled with all things animals. We will learn about animals from all over the world and even have a special guest visit from The Lizard Guys!
Thursday, December 28: Lights, Camera, Action! – This will be a fun-filled day of exciting camera play. Children will make their own commercials, help create an exciting game show, and learn about how TV is made.
Friday, December 29: New Year’s Eve Party – Party with us as we enjoy a day full of food, fun, and games!
Children will enjoy a new year’s lunchtime countdown, complete with an apple cider toast and pizza lunch
provided by the Y. Say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024.
Monday, January 15: Martin Luther King Jr. Day – join us today as we celebrate the message of Dr. MLK and continue to honor him by spreading unity, peace and equality for all. Children will participate in the Y service projects.
Monday, February 19: Super Hero Adventures – Superman, Spiderman, even the Hulk, you never know who might show up! Wear your favorite superhero costume and show off your super powers in a day full of good deeds and saving the Y from evil.
Monday, March 25: Space Station Exploration – Journey into the deepest regions of space! The Y will be transformed into a space station where children will enjoy a day of hands-on projects focused on space, the planets, and stars.
Tuesday, March 26: Jersey Lanes Bowling – We will depart at 9:30am to go bowling for 2 hours. Wear your craziest socks! We will return by 1:00pm. Don’t forget to pack lunch and a bathing suit/towel for swimming.
Wednesday, March 27: Under the Sea – We will journey under the sea and explore all the ocean has to offer including sea creatures, plant life, and sea mammals through hands-on projects.

Friday, March 29: Around the World – Participants will be transported to different countries and learn about different customs. Hands-on activities will include cooking a snack from another country.
Wednesday, April 10: Ah Hoy Matey! Pirates Life for Me – Join us as we look for buried treasure somewhere around the Y. You never know where it might be!
Cost: Member – $83 per day/per child
Community Member – $110 per day/per child
