School’s out, the Y’s in

Now open to FSPY members and the community!

This program is offered for grades K-5 on days that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools are closed due to holidays or vacation days. Program hours are 7:00am-6:30pm. Drop off and pick up are at the YMCA. On Vacation Full Days, participants will need a bathing suit, towel and brown bagged lunch.

Registration is open to both Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and community members who are in grades K-5 during the 2024-2025 School Year. Active members can register for our Vacation Full Days program for the 2024-2025 School Year beginning Monday, June 10 at 9:00am online under “Daxko Program Registration” or in person at our Welcome Center. 

If you are not currently a Y member, but wish to participate in Vacation Days, you must create a non-member account at fspymca.org/join-the-y and click “Join the Y Today,” where a non-member option will be available. You also can visit our Welcome Center at 1340 Martine Avenue.

The Vacation Full Day Registration/Health Forms must be submitted to our Welcome Center upon in-person registration or emailed to klizer@fspymca.org at least 7 days prior to your child’s first Vacation Day if registering online.

2024-2025 Vacation Full Day Themes

Tuesday, September 3: Summer Please Don’t Go! Join us for a last hurrah before school starts. We will be playing summer camp games; including water, games so do not forget your bathing suit!

Wednesday, September 4: Wild Crazy Kids- Come join us for a day of wild and crazy play! Kids will enjoy an obstacle course, making slime and cooking up some messy but delicious treats. Children will also participate in a wacky open swim with noodles of fun!

Thursday, October 3: Superhero Adventures- Come join us for a super day! Wear your favorite superhero costume and show us your super powers in a day full of good deeds and defending the Y from evil!

Friday, October 4: Pumpkin-picking Field Trip. We will be visiting Abmas Farm in Wycoff NJ. Bus will leave promptly at 9:30. Children should wear socks and sneakers and a light jacket and bring a brown paper brown lunch, water.

Monday, October 14: Columbus Day, Indigenous People Day- Come celebrate us all! We will celebrate different cultures and learn about our differences through art and activities.  

Friday, November 1: Pump It Up! Field Trip- We are going to jump, jump, jump! Don’t forget to wear socks and sneakers! The bus will leave promptly at 9:30.

Tuesday, November 5: And the Winner Is? – Join us for Election Day! Children will enjoy the day learning about the presidential election and how our great country works. We will be having our own Y Presidential Election who will win? Don’t forget to vote!

Thursday, November 7: Harvest Heroes fall is in full swing and we are harvesting a great time with friends, crafts and awesome autumn activities!

Friday, November 8: Be Nice Day! No act of kindness is too small! Come share a day of activities surrounded by good vibes and great crafts!

Monday, December 23:  Hello Winter! Warm up with us inside while the weather is cold outside. Join us for a day of hot coco and toasty fun!

Tuesday, December 24:  Film Festival- Come and view different classic films and movies having to do with the holidays! Children will be provided with a pizza lunch by the Y. The Y will close at 3pm.

Thursday, December 26: Gingerbread Buddies! Gingerbread isn’t just for making houses! Join us as we create some groovy ginger goodies!

Friday, December 27: Olympic Day- It’s all about team work! The day will consist of different Olympic style events to  receive the gold, silver, and bronze including gymnastics swimming and relay races.

Monday, December 30: Animal Awareness Day – Come and learn about animals from all over the world including animals on the endangered species list. Also enjoy a show from “The Lizard Guys” with real live animals to see and touch.

Tuesday, December 31: New Year’s Eve Party- It’s a party! Come join us for the last party of the year. A day full of food, fun, and games children will enjoy a new year’s lunch time countdown complete with an apple cider toast and a pizza lunch provided by the Y. Say good bye to 2024-2025. The Y will close at 6pm

Monday, January 20:  Martin Luther King Jr. Day Join us today as we celebrate the message of Dr. MLK and continue to honor him by spreading unity, peace, and equality for all. Children will participate in the Y service projects.

Wednesday, January 29:  Transform the Y into the Space Station where children will enjoy a day full of hands on projects having to do with space, the planets, and the stars.

Monday, February 17: Yankee Doodle Dandy! Its Presidents Day! Join us for a celebration of our country great leaders.

Monday, March 31: Over the Rainbow! We are getting ready for spring and feeling over the rainbow with excitement! Join us for a fun filled day including a healthy cooking project to welcome in spring!

Monday, April 14:  Vacation Vibes- Help us celebrate being on vacation for spring break! We will be going outside remember to wear a jacket!

Tuesday, April 15: Pump It Up! Field trip- We are going to jump, jump, jump! Don’t forget to wear socks and sneakers! The bus will leave promptly at 9:30.

Wednesday, April 16: Under the Sea- Join us for a journey under the sea. Come explore all the ocean has to offer including sea creatures, plant life, and sea mammals all projects will be hands on.

Thursday, April 17:  Jersey Lanes Bowling Field Trip- We are going Bowling! Make sure to wear sock and sneakers! The bus will leave promptly at 9:15.

Friday, April 18: Wacky Wild Challenge- Pie a counselor in the face! Come get messy with us and help your team win the ultimate team challenge. Children will participate in various team activities. We will be going outside remember to wear a jacket!

Thursday, June 19:  Rock and Roll Dance Party- It’s a dance Party! Children will spend the day listening to different types of music and learning different dance styles.

Cost: Member – $88 per day/per child
Community Member – $115 per day/per child
