“This is my second year working in camp. I also worked in after care at Evergreen during the school year. I thought working at camp would be a good first job that would teach me skills that I can use later in life. Since starting here, I’ve learned to work with children and how to talk to parents as well.

I like meeting new people and talking to both the kids and counselors. I’ve made a lot of friends here. I also enjoy watching the children grow. I see some of the campers I had last year and kids who went to Evergreen, and it’s fun to see how they change and develop. Plus, I get to play sports with the kids, which is something I enjoy and the kids like a lot as well.

As for the Y as a whole, it’s nice working for an organization that helps the community. I like that it’s local and dedicates resources to the people who live here.”
