“I went to daycare here when I was 2, and then preschool. I also went to camp here during the summers and was in the after care program as a kid. I always joke that the Y raised me.
This is my first summer as a camp counselor, but I have worked as a lifeguard here for the past 2 to 3 years. I knew some of the camp counselors – some of us went to camp here together growing up – and I’ve known Katie (the camp director) for my entire life. Working in camp is my full circle moment.
At camp, I just enjoy working with the kids every day and being able to help them have fun. I want them to create the memories that I had and make those friends for life. Plus, at the Y, I just like that it’s one big family. Everyone knows everyone.”
