“I began as a camp counselor last summer and then worked after care at School One during the year. Now I’m back for my second year at camp. I love being around the kids. I think being with them and giving them a fun summer is my favorite part of camp. I also enjoy coming up with my own sports and games curriculum for the kids. I like teaching them new things – games and activities they’ve never done before – like SPUD, an older game that we played last year and the kids just loved. At the Y, I also really like the environment here. Everyone is very close knit and it feels like a family.

I just graduated college with a degree in physical education and health, and in September, I’ll be starting my career as a physical education teacher. I played soccer my whole life – including college – and I’ve always been a bit of a health buff. Personally, I think physical education and health is something that kids will be able to use throughout their whole lives.”
