“I began working for the Y in October, starting with after care at McGinn. I’ve always been good with kids and thought about working with them one day. I enjoy watching them develop friendships and learn new things; seeing them grow is fun. The kids also are fun to be around and working at after care gave me something to do after school to drain my energy.
With camp, I enjoy working with the other counselors. And one of my favorite parts is watching the kids learn to swim. With Discovery Camp, not all the kids know how to swim yet and I enjoy watching them develop their swim skills from day one to the end of summer. I actually went to this camp when I was younger so I was once these kids learning to swim. Now, I’m watching them learn to swim. It circles back.”
