“I have been working here since August of 2021, although I first received my lifeguard certification in the winter of 2018. It was an option for one of my phys. Ed requirements in college. Originally, I was working at my college’s pool, which closed down during the pandemic. After some time, I decided to look for a new job. My family are members of the Y, and my older sister worked here a few years back and had good things to say about it.

Growing up, I always enjoyed swimming. My siblings and I were all on the swim team at our community pool, and I was on my high school’s swim team. Being a lifeguard gives you the flexibility to work in between classes when you’re in college, and the skills are transferable. You learn practical skills, CPR and how to help people. There’s also a sense of a team here. Everyone is nice to each other and we look out for one another. I want to help make this Y the safest, best and most enjoyable place it can be.”
