“This is my second summer working in Discovery Camp. I just remember having really positive experiences with the summer camp I went to. I think it’s important for kids to have a really good summer. I have very fond memories of playing games and doing activities with my counselors growing up, and I like to be there for my kids now. I’m passing it on. Plus, my sister was a camp counselor and my brother was a lifeguard, so everyone in my family has had a role at a summer camp.
At the Y, the whole working environment is very friendly. This is one of my first jobs and it’s very welcoming. It’s fun for the kids, but working at camp is fun for me, too. My favorite memory so far has been water play, and surprisingly the rain storm was really fun since I got to draw my own coloring sheet for the kids, which they enjoyed.”
