“I’m a student at Union County College. My professor told me that if I wanted to, I could do an extra semester as an internship to add to my resume. At the end of this semester, I will graduate with my associate’s degree in sports management. I also have done MMA since 2017. I started when I was 16 and was looking for something productive; it taught me discipline. The reason why interning here really interested me is the management side of it. I want to possibly run my own gym in the future. I want to learn what it’s like to be management of a gym, instead of just going to one. I’ve never worked on that side before. I’ve learned a lot about payroll, scheduling, and we’re going to talk about the budget. I’ve also worked on the Wellness Center floor. I really like the interactions with the people of all ages here. The Y is a good place to start and learn. The Y is also so well-known and widespread. It looks really good on a resume.”
