“I started here as an intern in September 2019 and was hired as a sports instructor in January of 2020. I was only working here for a few months when the Y closed, but before that I was teaching the Ninja courses, one of the gymnastics classes, and I was helping out with a few of the sports classes held during the day that a lot of the Child Care kids took. I also had been working with the Cross Country program and was a ref for youth basketball on Friday nights. I’ve always just enjoyed working with kids and sports is a huge part of my life. When I got the opportunity to work at the Y, I realized that I wanted youth sports to become a long-term career at some point. Since I started here, I’ve just been taking on as much as I can to get experience. This spring, I’m coming back to the Y and will be teaching the Middle School Running & Conditioning program, Youth Soccer and Youth T-Ball. I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine and working with the kids. I like being able to use my sports knowledge to get them motivated for a program, even if it’s a sport they don’t think they’re interested in. I just enjoy the atmosphere at the Y and the people I work with; it’s a positive place that I look forward to going to. Everyone wants to be there, whether they work there or are members. I can’t wait to get these programs back up and running, while taking all the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.”
