“I started working here in October 2020. I lost my job due to COVID and I was looking for a job that would get me out of the house. I knew people who liked working here. I had actually never worked with kids before, but I have two of my own and I was active with the PTA when they were younger. I like doing different things and I think I was ready to work with younger kids because my kids were older. I really enjoy working with the kids here. Watching them learn and figure things out is pretty cool. The children are so funny and loving. The Y is also a nice place, you feel like you’re part of a community. I have a bachelor’s and master’s in anthropology/archeology and then ended up working in computers. But I enjoy not being behind a desk. I think this is the perfect fit for me right now. And even though I didn’t go into anthropology/archeology, I like learning about different things and it kind of relates to working with the kids. They are all so different, with different personalities, ways of learning and development.”
