“I grew up in Middlesex, New Jersey and have lived in Fanwood for almost 46 years. I served in the US Army from 1966 to 1970 and got up to the rank of sergeant. I served in Germany twice and in Fort Hood, Texas. I remember how cold it was in Germany in the winter during our exercises. I received two citations for my service: the National Defense Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
On Veterans Day, like I did last year, I’m going to play Taps outside my house as part of the program Taps Across America. I’ve been playing the trumpet since I was in the 4th grade.
I was a member of the Y for two years before the pandemic and just came back a few weeks ago. I gained weight during the pandemic, and I want to get back into my suit that I only wore once. When I come here, I use the Wellness Center, including the treadmill, ab machine and a few other machines. I’m looking forward to the weddings of my two grandkids, and plan to wear that suit to both weddings.”
