“I started at the Summit Area Y as a member and became interested in personal training. While in college, I started working there on the Wellness Center floor as a wellness coach and then received my certification to become a personal trainer. I then worked part-time at the Westfield Area Y when I was in grad school and when I graduated, became a full-time personal trainer. After two years full time, there was an opportunity for me to join the Chatham Club, where I worked for the past 13 ½ years. I had a fantastic experience there. It’s where I got my start in body building competitions, which I did for 9 ½ years. I had a lot of fun and it was a great way to demonstrate to clients why I was teaching them what I was teaching them. While there, I also started a group exercise class focused on the principles of body building with slow and concise movements for a total body workout. I’m no longer competing in body building and one of my newer hobbies is martial arts.

In my new role at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, I want to bring as much knowledge and guidance as I can to members of all ages – teenagers, college students, adults, seniors. I take a lot of satisfaction seeing people grow their health, nutrition and fitness routines. I love when they get their lab reports back from their doctor and their results have improved. I’m excited to create programs that have an impact, that focus on the needs of our members and help take them from Point A to Point B. I’m also looking forward to personal growth in this role; I’m going to learn so much and challenge myself. I’m also looking forward to working as a team with the staff and members. They are going to teach me a lot and I’m excited to get started.”
