“I worked for the Y for about six months before COVID, teaching gymnastics and dance classes. I was also on the Gymnastics Team here from third to eighth grade. This is my first full summer as a camp counselor and I’m working with the Cook & Grow, STEAM and Gymnastics Camps. I worked at a doggy day care last summer but for me, it wasn’t as fun as working with the kids. So far, I’m having a lot of fun in the Cook & Grow Camp. I love cooking. It’s fun to teach the kids different recipes and how to safely use the kitchen equipment. Most of the recipes are centered around vegetables and eating healthy. We’ve made recipes like cowboy caviar, fruit kabobs and vegetable faces using tortillas. We’re having fun with it. I’m really excited for STEAM Camp. I’m a neuroscience major in college and I love science. I’m excited to do fun experiments with the kids and take a holistic approach to science by touching on the different aspects of STEM. STEAM Camp combines my two favorite things: kids and science.”
