“I started coming here in August 2013 just to work out, not to mingle. Fortunately, a year later, I started mingling and going into the café. I first walked into the café because I wanted a cup of coffee. I started talking to the men who hang out there and the social aspect of the Y is really what I enjoy most now. I still keep fit with the Wellness Center, and even though I’m not a senior, I enjoy the senior events. I’m here five times a week, both to work out and to hang out. The reason I decided to give back in different ways is because the man upstairs has been good to me, so I want to give back to other people and I figure the Y is a good place to start.”
