“We have been members of the Y since 2006. We joined when our son Jack was 6 months old and we wanted to sign him up for swim lessons. Water safety and teaching our kids how to swim was very important for us. We had no idea at the time that Jack would love to swim and eventually join the FSPY Swim Team when he was 8 years old. Abby has also taken swim lessons along with gymnastics and cycle classes. Jack usually practices 6 days a week so we are stopping in very regularly. Matt and I are also at the Y to support the Swim Team during any dual meets. I am on the Swim Team board and am very active volunteering to help the team in any way I can. I have loved the sense of community that we felt from the moment Jack started taking swim lessons. As he grew up and joined the Swim Team, the Swim Team parents, swimmers and coaches have become like family to us – supporting us in and out of the pool! I know Jack misses swimming regularly and seeing all of his teammates. The Swim Team has set up several chats and the coaches have helped the teammates stay connected and even provided tips on how to continue to stay healthy at home. It didn’t even occur to us to leave the Y during this time. We know when this is over the Y will be back stronger than ever.”
