“I started working here in September, but my family has been members for 11 years – since we moved to the area. I have four children and my three older children each attended Child Care here starting when they were 2 ½ years old. My two oldest were at the Grand Street location and my third came here to the main Y building. For me, it’s a very familiar community. Many of my children’s teachers are the teachers I’m working with now.
This was a good time for me to start working here. As my kids are growing and becoming more independent, I felt the need to do something for me. With taking care of my own children, I have gained a lot of experience and decided I wanted to try working with kids. I enrolled in a CDA (Child Development Associate) program at Union County College to receive my certification. I enjoy working at the Y and it’s good for me to get out of the house, come here and meet people. I’m also learning with the kids. It’s wonderful to be here, where we’ve been members for so long. Everyone has been very welcoming.”
