“I will be working here 3 years this September. I came here to be a swim instructor, which led to lifeguarding. I received my lifeguard certification while working here, and then I became a deck supervisor. I had a friend who worked here who mentioned that the Y was hiring in the Aquatics Department to teach little kids how to swim. I want to be a teacher – either for elementary or high school – and I thought this would be a good experience before going into teaching. Working at the Y, I absolutely love both the community and the staff. I’ve made some really amazing friends here, along with working with the kids. It’s cool to watch the kids grow up, develop and learn new things. I actually took swim lessons here when I was a little kid, and it’s really eye-opening – someone was on this side watching me grow up and learn how to swim. At the Y, it’s just a really great community. It’s a good place to work. We’re all really friendly and have fun here.”
