“When I was little, I used to go to the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y for Preschool and to take swim lessons. Later on, I went to the Metuchen Y as a teenager. In 2005, I started working for the Metuchen Y as a lifeguard while in high school. During college, I came back as a summer camp counselor and intern. My internship was interesting because it allowed me to work with all the departments in the facility. The internship showed me how the Y is run from all levels and is what led me to want to work in Membership. After graduating from college, I was back at the Metuchen Y working at the Welcome Center and as a swim instructor. After taking a year off, I returned as the Assistant Aquatics Director for a year and a half. I later started my career as a Membership and Marketing Director at the Edison Y for three years. Then in June of 2018, I came back to FSPY and started my job as Membership Engagement Director. I oversee the Welcome Center and Child Watch Room, interact with members to make them feel welcome, answer questions and make sure their experience at the Y is a positive one. I believe my position impacts people because members come to the Y for many different reasons, such as to improve their health, socialize and meet new people, and we meet all those needs for all ages in the community. I enjoy working here because everyone is so friendly and it really is a community. I enjoy meeting and getting to know our members and interacting with my co-workers.”
