“I have been working for the Y for about two years. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. When I was little, my family belonged to the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, and I would come here every week for swim lessons. When I got older, I joined the YMCA to work out and take classes. I live only a few minutes from the Y, and I saw a sign that said the Y was hiring. I had worked for a different Y in college as a summer camp group leader, so I knew that the Y was a great place to work. I originally started working in Child Watch, which was a great fit since I am a teacher during the school year. I like the community aspect – everyone is so friendly. I have met a lot of new people since I started working at the Y. I especially like working at the Welcome Center because I have the chance to interact with all of the members who come into the Y. My favorite aspect of the job is interacting with members. I often have the chance to speak with members about the classes or activities they enjoy participating in at the Y, or to help them find information that they need.”
