“I started working here in the summer as a camp counselor, and in September I began working in the toddler classroom. I had been looking for a summer job since I was a nanny during the school year. My friend works in Child Watch and told me that the Y was hiring camp counselors. I have been working with kids for 10 years and I decided to apply. I enjoyed working in camp and liked doing outdoor activities and being active with the kids. I also liked the field trips on Fridays. It was a lot of fun and it was actually my first experience working at a summer camp.

Now, working with the toddlers, I like seeing them learn new things each day – like learning a song and even speaking, some of them have progressed so much since September. It’s rewarding when they repeat what we’ve taught them and shows how much they are learning from us. Plus, they are just very cute and fun. I also love the people I work with at the Y. This is my first time working a full-day with toddlers, and I’m really enjoying it, especially with the people I work with. Now, we are getting ready for the holidays. It’s fun to do all the holiday arts and crafts and watch the kids get excited about their final products.”
