“Antonio, who is now 9, started with parent and child swim lessons when he was 6 months old. Over the years, he’s done swimming, gymnastics, Ninja Warrior, basketball, Young Athletes and T-ball. My other son William, who is 6, went to the Y’s daycare for three years before kindergarten and has also participated in other programs. So many people here know Antonio by name and greet him when he comes in. Antonio has special needs and the fact that the Y is willing to make every effort to accommodate him, so he can participate to the extent he’s able to, is great. Taj and Jen go out of their way to accommodate him in Ninja. When we walk in, people at the front desk try to have a conversation with him. They take the time to talk to him and make him feel welcome. When we first started here, I didn’t know how much we’d be able to do. But there’s not a single person here who said ‘no, we can’t make it work.’”
