March 15, 2020

As we continue to monitor COVID-19 in our community and across the country, we realize it is no longer socially responsible to keep our doors open during this time. Effective Monday, March 16, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be temporarily closed through Sunday, March 29. All programs, offerings, events and activities are suspended.
During this time, the health and safety of our members, staff and community remains our top priority. Although we are unaware of any member or staff being diagnosed with COVID-19, we understand that social distancing is an effective method of keeping our community healthy.
We anticipate reopening on Monday, March 30. As the date approaches, we will reassess and be in contact with local authorities regarding reopening our doors. We will be in touch with our members as soon as a decision is made.
The decision to close our doors does not come lightly. As a not-for-profit organization dedicated to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility, we understand how vital our programs are to those in our community – and to our staff who count on us for financial support. We ask that during this time, please have patience with us as we work to answer your questions. This situation has evolved quickly and we will be in touch shortly with more information on moving forward.
We are working on ways to stay connected and be a resource to our members and the community during this time. Our social media accounts, particularly Facebook and Twitter, will remain active and we will continue to send out information through emails. In addition, we will continuously update our website and mobile app. Please check these regularly and make sure that you read all communications coming from the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA.
Over the next two weeks, or longer, we ask that you please continue to follow the CDC’s recommendations on preventing the virus. We hope to see our entire Y family again soon, and appreciate your patience, cooperation and understanding as we work through these uncertain times together.
Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and healthy.
Kim Decker, Chief Executive Officer
and the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Leadership Team
