At the Y, we believe our community is stronger when everyone feels welcome and we work together for the common good. From September 12 to 20, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be participating in Welcoming Week, a nationwide initiative that connects immigrants and their U.S. born neighbors and celebrates what unites us as a community.

This year, our activities will be virtual. But we need your help to make it a success. Please consider participating in one or all of the following:
Community Cookbook: do you have a favorite family recipe that represents your heritage? Send it along with a photo of yourself to aganzman@fspymca.org by September 14 to be included in our Community Cookbook. The cookbook will be released virtually during Welcoming Week. Please use the subject line: Welcoming Week Cookbook.
#YWelcomeChallenge: create artwork of what community and welcoming means to you, – whether in chalk, paint, crayons, etc. – take a photo of yourself with it and email it to aganzman@fspymca.org. Please use the subject line: Y Welcome Challenge. Submissions will be featured virtually during Welcoming Week.
School Supplies Donation Drive: we are collecting new school supplies along with used, working electronics such as tablets and iPads for for El Centro Hispanoamericano in Plainfield. Donations can be placed in a bin outside our main Y building – 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains – from 9am-11am September 14-18.
I’m A Welcomer Sign: Fill out an “I’m A Welcomer Sign” found here, take a photo with it and send it aganzman@fspymca.org during Welcoming Week to be featured on our social media. Please use the subject line: I’m A Welcomer.
Welcoming Week Activity Card: make a pledge to expand your world this Welcoming Week by completing the activity card found here.
