Join us for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification Course at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA!

This course is designed to train and certify current American Red Cross Lifeguards to become certified instructors. Once a certified instructor, you are able to teach and lead future lifeguards.

The course is a blended learning course that will be taught over the span of four days, including both in-water and classroom sessions. Participants will each be assigned specific instructor materials that they will use to practice teaching methods.

Participants must be 18 or older and possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification at the time the in-person sessions take place.

The in-person sessions for this course will be held as follows: Monday-Thursday (8/23-8/26) from 10:00am-6:00pm each day. Breaks will be provided periodically.

The first session will begin with a pre-course skills assessment to ensure that participants are capable of successfully demonstrating all necessary lifeguarding skills to the standards of the Red Cross.

The course fee is $500 for Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA members and $550 for community members. FSPY members can register online at here under “Daxko Program Registration.” Community members can register at the FSPY Welcome Center, 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains.
