Making Health and Wellness A Priority

Wellness Center Expansion

Our plans include expanding our Wellness Center on the first floor and the second floor mezzanine. Right now, several of our strength machines are in our gym to give members more room to social distance while working out. This limits other programs – like gymnastics and basketball – that we can hold there. The expanded Wellness Center will give us enough room for all of our equipment and the ability to add new strength and cardio equipment, expand our weight training selection, and add a new functional training area. In addition, we will be able to utilize our gym for more youth and family programs, allowing us to offer more for our community.

Two New Fitness Studios

Did you know the Y has a lower level that was used for storage? It has the potential to be a great space for two new fitness studios for our group exercise classes, such as cycle and yoga. This space also will free up other areas of our building so we can offer more for youth, adults and families. Our plan includes a lobby area outside the studios and bathroom facilities. The addition of the two studios also will allow us to offer even more group exercise classes to our members, including seniors and our chronic disease program participants who will have elevator access.

Giving Kids the Best Summer Ever

A New Summer Day Campsite

We pride ourselves on offering a quality camp experience and giving kids a fun-filled summer with our current facilities, but we are limited in what we are able to offer due to space. Our children need and deserve a permanent site with more green space to play, exercise and participate in activities that contribute to their social, emotional, academic and physical growth.

We plan to create an outdoor campsite adjacent to our building that will include a covered open-air pavilion, playground space, multipurpose court and an open playing field. The site will also will include two age-appropriate playgrounds for the children in our Child Care program, as well as new restrooms and storage space outside access for campsite use. The new campsite will give us the permanent space we need to serve additional children in our community.

A Pool with a View

Expanding the Pool 2 deck and adding a second floor viewing area

If you’ve ever been to an FSPY Swim Team meet, then you know how much energy and excitement there is during an event. And, you know that space on the pool deck is limited. This building project gives us the opportunity to expand our first floor pool deck on Pool 2 to create a designated area for the Swim Team to conduct dryland drills. We also are excited to have the opportunity to add 2nd floor seating, giving our Swim Team families a convenient area to watch and cheer the swimmers.

Creating More Community Space

Welcome Center and Community Café Expansion

Our building project includes plans for an expanded lobby and Welcome Center creating a better flow for members checking in and out of the Y, and more space for our staff to assist members and guests with questions, transactions and registrations. This includes some updates to the exterior of our building as well.

Our Community Café is the heart of our Y. It is where our members gather in the morning over a cup of coffee and where they catch up with each other after class. For many of our seniors, our café helps them stay connected to their friends and combat social isolation. Our plan is to increase our café space and add more tables and seating so Y members, staff and guests can have a more modern, comfortable, and welcoming area to connect, relax and recharge.
