PROVIDE LIFESAVING LESSONS TO KIDS & ADULTS
Do you enjoy both swimming and teaching others? As a swim instructor at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, you will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Swimming is a vital and lifesaving skill and this position helps community members learn to be safe when in or around water.
Essential functions of a swim instructor include to: instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly; build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents and help them connect with each other and the YMCA; convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and, as appropriate, refer students and parents to other programs; maintain records as required (progress reports, etc.); provide safety in the aquatic environment through sound teaching methods, maintenance of proper discipline and class control, and follow the recommended lesson plans for the program, established by national YMCA guidelines and the Aquatic Director, among other responsibilities.
